Welcome to the heart of Wicklow, to a village steeped in history and heritage with all the conveniences of modern living. We pride ourselves on maintaining our environment and preserving the natural beauty around us and nothing makes us happier than sharing this with our families and visitors.
Tinahely.ie is a one stop resource of all things Tinahely. It is operated by Tinahely Community Projects (TCP), a group of local volunteers that have over the years been instrumental in expanding the amenities and facilities in the village and surrounding area.
One of the most exciting projects has been the establishment of Ireland’s only community run recycling centre. Located in the village it is open three days a week and replaces a monthly truck collection. Wicklow County Council have shown considerable initiative by supporting this facility, the first of its kind in Ireland.
Projects include over 40km of walks, in order to develop the walking tourism of the area, and provide locals with quality routes close to home. There are walking routes for all abilities, from the level Railway Walk and its extension to several looped hill walks.
TCP also developed the multi-use games area with outdoor exercise units, kick about area, skate section and teen hang out area. It was completed with support from the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. It has proved a valuable resource for both adults and young people.
A playground was later installed for younger children. Opened with great fanfare in September 2013 it is highly valued among the families that use it. Close to the local schools, the playschool and creche it is a busy location for people to meet and enjoy the outdoors. It was funded with local donations and Leader funding through County Wicklow Partnership.
Much of the maintenance work of these resources is supplied by Community Employment Scheme participants. TCP is grateful for their efforts.
Come and see for yourself why Tinahely is such a wonderful place to live, and visit. A warm welcome awaits in the heart of Wicklow
