WICKLOW COUNTY COUNCIL.

Tree Planting Grant 2023.

The 2023 Wicklow County Council Tree Planting Scheme is now open and grant applications are being accepted from community groups and schools wishing to plant native or listed pollinator friendly trees on public sites. A list of appropriate tree species is provided on the grant application form, which can be downloaded from the link below, or can be requested by email from eao@wicklowcoco.ie.

The grant is available to cover up to 75% of the total cost of a community tree planting initiative, and is payable when the work is completed. The maximum grant available is €500. Reckonable expenditure covered by the grant includes the cost of the trees, ties and stakes but it does not include the cost of labour for the planting. Please also note that receipts will be required as a condition of payment.

Applicants must demonstrate on the application form that they have considered the suitability of the trees proposed for planting in the context of the specific chosen location. In particular, applicants should think carefully about the site space and the proximity of trees to built infrastructure, with the eventual height and spread of the trees in mind. The long term maintenance of the trees is also an important consideration. Applications will be assessed on whether the trees selected are suitable for the proposed sites and the relevant municipal district will be consulted to ensure that the trees are appropriate for both the site and for broader tree schemes underway or planned for the community or town.
