The seventeenth edition of Culture Night will take place on Friday 23 September 2022.
Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is brought to you by the Arts Council. It is a national moment, celebrating culture, creativity and the arts and seeks to actively promote the belief that this rich and varied culture is alive, treasured and nurtured in people’s lives, today and every day. It is delivered nationwide in cities, towns, villages and rural locations as well as online and through our media partners. Over 1.1 million people engaged with Culture Night in 2021.
Doors are opened late and special and unique events are specifically programmed at participating locations and, thanks to the continued support of the Arts Council and Local Authorities across the island of Ireland, all activities are made available to the public free of charge.
Culture Night at the Courthouse Arts Centre brings to Tinahely a multi-dimensional experience of sound and vision with music on stage from performers Mark Caplice, Layzee Gold and Sam Ali; while visual artist, Liing Heaney will animate the townscape buildings with projections from her CGI film making exploring Tomnafinnoge Woods in a digital space.
As we emerge from cycles of lockdown, embracing again our social and cultural identities, giving voice to these emerging music and visual artists encapsulates the feeling of Culture Night 2022 at The Courthouse. These young musicians were chosen for their unique energy in a live performance setting; combing with dynamic visual artist to emphasise the multi-dimensional nature of the Courthouse Arts Centre Space.
