Tinahely Riding Club was established in 1979 and is fortunate to be one of very few clubs across Ireland to own its own grounds. Members avail of excellent facilities including a large all-weather arena with a full set of Showjumps and set on 40 acres which at present contains over 45 Cross County Jumps. The current membership stands at 60, with an option to join both the club and (Association Of Irish Riding Clubs), or just the club itself. Tinahely members are very active within the competitive fields of AIRC, showing, show jumping and eventing.
A range of the Cross Country jumps available at the grounds these consist of banks, drops, logs, post and rails, steps, a coffin, drains and a water complex that runs through the Coolboy River; all jumps varying in size from pre novice to open. This makes the course ideal for children, adults and people who want to get young horses used to the discipline. The grounds themselves are subject to continual improvement, with the recent addition of new banks and the laying of an all weather surface around at least 50 percent of the Cross Country track. We continually add and improve our facilities so you never know what you may find on your next visit!!!
The club hosts competitions such as Hunter Trials, Show Jumping, Derbys and Mini Midi Maxi competitions. We have also hosted many events for charities and raised much needed funds for organisations such “The Irish Cancer Society”. Furthermore, the club grounds are available for hire to organisations. The Shillelagh Pony Club and the Shillelagh Hunt avail of as the grounds regularly
